A series of three seminars on the most-requested topics in dementia and memory care is being presented by Charles E. Smith Life Communities this fall in conjunction with the anticipated opening of the new Cohen-Rosen House. The “Remember This” series provides family caregivers, professional caregivers, social workers, eldercare attorneys, admissions staff and case managers with answers to especially challenging aspects of memory care.
Jennifer Lubaczewski FitzPatrick kicks off the series on Thursday, September 6, at 5 pm in the Landow House theater, 1799 East Jefferson Street, Rockville. Founder of Jenerations Health Education, Inc., adjunct instructor at Johns Hopkins University and educational consultant for the Alzheimer’s Association, she will address “Behaviors as Communication?” guiding attendees on understanding and managing the difficult behaviors that often accompany memory loss. A complementary supper will be served.
The series continues on Thursday, October 18 at 5 pm and Sunday, November 4 at 2 pm. Dr. Allan Anderson speaks on pain management and dementia in October, and in November, Patricia Hagen, Director of Alzheimer’s/dementia programs for Charles E. Smith Life Communities, presents best practices for successfully filling the day for memory care clients. Continuing education credits have been approved for each session; there is no cost to attend.
